Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

I've been weary lately. I've been searching for God's will for this time in my life, but I was too tired to read the Bible... no wonder I wasn't feeling any peace about decisions that had to be made. So, this morning, I read a book to the girls. In God's wonderful way of opening up my heart, this scripture was the verse of the day.

My strength is already renewing, just knowing that all I have to do is wait on Him. I will not rely on my own understanding and try to fix what I think are problems.

Marty's 40

This song was one of the first I ever heard Marty sing. I loved every minute of being with him and seeing him sing with such a heart for it... it didn't take long before I was "Sold" on being with him forever. It was no contest! He hauled my heart away! Okay, Okay... I just want it out there that I'm hoping for at least 40 more years with him.

This one got a chuckle.

Last night, Marty told the girls he would read them a bedtime story. Lindsey found her books and told Marty she did not want to read "Is your Mommy a Commie." He chuckled a big one over that.

She was talking about Is Your Mama a Llama? It is a book that all my kids have loved for a bedtime story at one time or another. I can't decide if she needs a refresher course or if it might be time to pass it along.

My Thoughts in someone else's words

I've been thankful for God's grace lately. I've been listening to this song all week.

Happy Birthday, Mom

"I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." ~Abraham Lincoln

If there is anything I know for sure about my mom, it is that she has prayed for me all of my life. That is more than anyone else in the world can do for another.

I love my mom beyond measure.
She has given more than I deserve.

If I could give her a gift that mattered most, it would be to pray for her grandchildren the way she has prayed for me.

Thank you, Mom.  I hope your day was a good one.

Fun Fathers

"What a dreadful thing it must be to have a dull father. "
-- Mary Mapes Dodge

My dads (I have two, as it just so happens) were great at supplying adventure to the lives of my sisters and me. We were never lacking for outdoor fun, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and plain old picnics in the backyard. At the time, I had no idea what a blessing it was to be out in the wild, without a phone and my curling iron.

I still jump when bugs come near me, and I really don't like to be away from home very often. But, now, I wouldn't trade those wild times for anything. I might never have touched a worm in my whole life if it hadn't been for them.

My girls already treasure the adventures with their dad. So far, it has been "real" acting on stage and going to Six Flags that top the list. Who knows what might happen if he takes them camping while they are in their teens, but I can say that at least one of my girls will jump all over that one with joy.

So, thank you Dad & Dad for giving my life some adventure. The memories are a treasure to me.

I still love this guy-but I don't want to marry him!

You can count on Tony Woodlief to have an opinion on most things. I enjoy reading his blog as often as I can. Here's his take on the polygamy issue:

Done Living

I've been thinking of this song today. I heard it a few weeks ago, but today, some of the lyrics came back to me and I had to look up the rest. I thought I'd share it on this weekend of remembering those who lived and died for our country.

Sometimes I fear dying, or someone I love dying. Not because I'm afraid of death, but because I don't want to die before I'm done living.

"Done Living," by Justin McRoberts, from his Deconstruction album:

This artist has a myspace.com page & a post about why he wrote this song. It made me smile and get teary-eyed at the same time.

Day out with Thomas

The girls had a great time with 2 cousins in March. It was a big treat to ride a "real" train.

The train at the mall is getting a little babyish for the big girls, although they still ask for it every time we go there.

You can learn something everyday...

I had no idea that someone could actually be allergic to caffeine. I know some people get headaches, rapid heartbeat, and other side effects, but I had never heard of an actual allergy to it until today.

Funny Kids

Lindsey was measuring Hannah on the door frame where we mark the girls height every birthday. Lindsey excitedly told Hannah, "You're big! You are 8 pounds and 3 cents!"

That reminded me of when Hannah told me that she weighed 46 cents!
